Canine Gastrointestinal Panel Ⅹ

CCoV: A common virus in dogs that typically causes mild gastrointestinal symptoms like diarrhea, though some strains may lead to more severe illness, especially in puppies.

CPV: A highly contagious and life-threatening virus that attacks dogs' digestive and immune systems, causing severe diarrhea, vomiting, and rapid dehydration—most dangerous for young puppies.

HP: A bacterium that colonizes the stomach (in dogs and humans), potentially causing gastritis, ulcers, or chronic gastrointestinal discomfort, often transmitted via oral contact with contaminated substances.

Salmonella spp.: A group of bacteria that can infect dogs (and humans) through contaminated food or feces, leading to gastrointestinal issues like diarrhea, fever, and vomiting, with higher risk for puppies or immunocompromised dogs.

C. jejuni: A common bacterial pathogen that causes diarrhea, abdominal pain, and occasional fever in dogs and humans, usually spread through ingestion of contaminated food, water, or fecal matter.

Y. enterocolitica: A bacterium that can infect dogs and humans, triggering gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever, often contracted from undercooked food or contaminated environments.

GIA: A protozoan parasite that infects dogs' intestines, causing diarrhea (sometimes greasy), weight loss, and nutrient malabsorption, spread via ingestion of contaminated water or fecal cysts.

Cryptosporidium: A microscopic protozoan parasite that causes watery diarrhea, abdominal pain, and dehydration in dogs (and humans), transmitted through contact with contaminated feces or water.

P. hominis: A protozoan primarily found in humans, but can occasionally infect dogs, potentially causing mild gastrointestinal symptoms like diarrhea or intestinal discomfort, spread via fecal-oral contact.

Neospora: A protozoan parasite that mainly uses dogs as definitive hosts (reproducing in their intestines); it can cause neurological issues (e.g., paralysis) or reproductive problems in dogs and other intermediate hosts like cattle.

Clinical Application:

· Accurately identify the cause:
The clinical symptoms of canine parvovirus are similar to those of other intestinal diseases. It is difficult to accurately diagnose only by symptoms. This reagent can provide accurate detection results in a short time, helping veterinarians quickly determine the cause and avoid misdiagnosis and delayed treatment.

· Guide timely treatment:
Canine parvovirus infection develops rapidly, and early diagnosis is crucial for treatment. Through nucleic acid detection, veterinarians can start targeted supportive treatment measures early, such as fluid replacement, antiviral treatment, and prevention of secondary infections, significantly improving the cure rate and reducing the risk of death.

· Control disease transmission:
Canine parvovirus is transmitted through feces. The virus in the environment has strong survivability and is extremely easy to spread to other dogs. Through rapid detection and isolation of infected individuals, the spread of the virus can be effectively controlled and the risk of group outbreaks can be reduced.
