Bovine Respiratory Syncytial Virus (BRSV) Nucleic Acid Test Kit (Lyophilized)

This is a PCR nucleic acid detection reagent kit used to detect Bovine Respiratory Syncytial Virus (BRSV). Real-time PCR technology has the characteristics of fast, sensitive, highly specific and high accuracy. Utilizing this technology and the FLASHTEST PCR reagent kit, it can accurately diagnose whether cows carry Bovine Respiratory Syncytial Virus (BRSV).

Symptoms

  • Acute Infection:

    • Sudden onset of fever (up to 40–41°C/104–105.8°F).

    • Severe respiratory distress: Coughing, wheezing, rapid breathing, and nasal discharge (clear or mucopurulent).

    • Dyspnea (difficulty breathing), often with open - mouth panting.

    • Reduced appetite, lethargy, and weight loss.

  • Chronic or Secondary Infection:

    • Persistent coughing and nasal discharge.

    • Poor growth in calves.

    • Increased susceptibility to bacterial pneumonia (e.g., Mannheimia haemolytica).

Clinical Applications

  1. Rapid Diagnosis:

    • Use BRSV nucleic acid tests to confirm respiratory disease outbreaks in cattle herds. For example, during winter months when BRSV is more prevalent, veterinarians can quickly identify BRSV as the causative agent in calves showing acute respiratory symptoms.

  2. Differential Diagnosis:

    • Distinguish BRSV from other bovine respiratory pathogens (e.g., BVDV, BPIV - 3, IBRV) to guide targeted treatment. For instance, if a calf has fever and cough, a BRSV test helps rule out other viruses.

  3. Herd Health Management:

    • Screen high - risk groups (e.g., newly arrived calves, feedlot cattle) to prevent virus introduction. Farms can test nasal swabs or bronchoalveolar lavage fluid to detect subclinical carriers.

  4. Vaccine Efficacy Monitoring:

    • Evaluate vaccine effectiveness by measuring post - vaccination viral shedding. If vaccinated calves still test positive for BRSV, adjustments to vaccination protocols may be needed.

  5. Control Measures:

    • Implement biosecurity protocols (e.g., isolation of infected animals, improved ventilation) based on test results to minimize disease spread.
