Turtle herpesvirus is a virus that can infect turtles. Its virus particles are spherical and enveloped.

This virus mainly infects the skin, mucous membranes, and internal organs of turtles. Infected turtles may develop herpes - like lesions on their skin, such as small white or gray blisters. These blisters will form ulcers after they burst. The oral mucosa of turtles may also be affected, leading to symptoms such as oral ulcers and salivation. In terms of internal organs, it may cause damage to the liver, spleen, etc., affecting the normal physiological functions of turtles. Turtle herpesvirus mainly spreads through contact. For example, sick turtles and healthy turtles sharing the same water body, or infection through mutual biting between turtles, poses a serious threat to the health and survival of turtles.

Clinical Application:

· Early - stage Diagnosis:
Skin lesions in turtles may be caused by multiple factors, such as bacterial infections, fungal infections, or external injuries. Nucleic acid detection kits can specifically detect the nucleic acid of turtle herpesvirus, accurately distinguish herpesvirus infection from other similar diseases, avoid misdiagnosis, and provide a basis for subsequent targeted treatment.

· Health Monitoring of Turtle Herds:
In turtle farms or pet - turtle breeding environments, regular use of nucleic acid detection kits can effectively monitor the infection status of turtle herpesvirus in turtle herds. By sampling and testing turtles in different turtle ponds, of different species, and of different age groups, the epidemic trends of the virus, such as changes in the infection rate, can be understood in a timely manner.

· Basis for Adjusting Treatment Plans:
During the treatment of turtles infected with turtle herpesvirus, nucleic acid detection is used to monitor the changes in the content of viral nucleic acid. If, after a period of treatment, the amount of viral nucleic acid does not decrease significantly, it may mean that the current treatment plan needs to be adjusted, such as replacing antiviral drugs or changing the treatment cycle.
